Explore the Limestone Coast
We are nestled nearly halfway between Kingston SE & Millicent on the Princes Highway and the perfect central location to the following Towns-
-
Kingston SE- visit 'Larry the Lobster' and have a photo taken with him, being a large famous icon of Big Things in the South East, many people cant resist the photo opportunity. Go for a stroll up the jetty or swim at one of the safest beaches in summer, also check out Long Beach, just a few kms north up Adelaide road. Taste a nice local coffee or a famous muntrie cheesecake if you can find it, follow the signs just south of Kingston SE on the Robe road. 40 minute drive
-
Robe - offers amazing scenery, restaurants, cafes, what I find the best Chinese food in the south east. There are a few lovely shops to check out and the famous Mahalia Coffee and Cafe, right next to a playground, convenient for families. If you are interested in a drive, visit Littie Dip National Park and the Nora Coreina Cove, approximately 25mins south of Robe. 25minute drive
-
Beachport - offers excellend 4wdriving in the sand dunes and if you are a skilled driver, you can actually drive from Beachport all the way through to Robe. It is the best way to see our coastline and also have a play in the dunes. The Beachport jetty is the second longest jetty in South Australia. Excellent fishing also in this little coastal fishing town. Southend is not far also and also offers great fishing and coastal walks. 25 minute drive
-
Naracoorte - offers many dining places at the local hotels and cafes and a few good shops. A much larger town catering for many in the uppersouth east. Surround Naracoorte there is much to see including Bool Lagoon, the Naracoorte caves, Horse Trail rides, Cockatoo Lake, and the wine regions of Wrattonbully and Padthaway.
45 minute drive to Naracoorte.
-
Penola and Coonawarra - Home to St Mary MacKillop, Penola is a quiant little town with a well known lollie shop, antique shop and hotels for meals. It is where the food and wine of the south east rules. There are several cellar doors in Coonawarra, just north of Penola heading toward Naracoorte. 50 minute drive.
-
Millicent - with another short 25 minute drive, there is much to see in Millicent such as the Tourist Information centre as the enterance to the Museum which is worth a look. Stroll up the street and check out the shops, cafes and hotels. Or relax on a walk around Lake McIntyre and do some bird watching. Not far from town, you can do a Canunda Frontage drive near the coast and have a look at the Wind Turbine Farm, just south of Millicent and Tantanoola. See the tourist info centre for a map to do the drive yourself. They really are spectacular to see up close. 30 minute drive.
